A popular case occurred in 2020, where over 130 high-profile Twitter profiles were hijacked to push a Bitcoin scam. The accounts included those of Kim Kardashian, Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Joe Biden, and Barack Obama.

Stopping an account hijacking

  • Use secure and unique passwords.
  • Create two-factor authentication.
  • Avoid clicking on suspicious links and files.
